We are a scientific research institute based on molecular biology, we are known for being leaders at the development of molecular diagnostic tests trough the polymerase chain reaction (PCR), being this a fast, easy and economical way to use the DNA genetic material for the diagnosis and monitoring of public health interest diseases or even for basic molecular biology investigation applicable to many sectors such as human health, animal health and agricultural fields.
Our mission is to improve the development of knowledge and technologies, focusing on the study of fundamental processes of live organisms, as well as provide support to research projects and activities that contribute to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying cell function and human illness.
At the translational Institute for genomic singularity (ITRASIG) we want to be seen as one of the most relevant research institutes in Mexico and Latin America, dedicated to the scientific research with a translational focus, looking for the innovation and social, economic and environmental development.
Although since 2016 the research and development team of the institute were already making research work jointly, the need to establish ITRASIG legally as a civil association, born as a response for the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in 2021.
During the first year of the health emergency, the institute dedicated a large part of its human resources to the development of the identification method called Master Mut SARS-Cov-2, which was ready for its application at May 2021. With the application of this identification method, it was possible to identify the circulant variants in México, which favored the epidemiological surveillance of government institutions in charge of it. Also helped to mitigate the spread of the virus in our country.
That is why the institutional work of ITRASIG focuses on the study and research of biological processes at its different levels of organization, and promote its linkage with educational institutions, companies, and civil associations in order to help everyone to achieve social welfare.
